Throughout August, DEC is looking for help with a Summer Wild Turkey Sighting Survey. The purpose of the survey is to estimate the number of wild turkey poults per hen statewide. Survey participants are asked to record the sex and age composition of all wild turkey flocks observed during normal travel.

If you'd like to participate, you can download a Summer Wild Turkey Sighting Survey form from the DEC website, along with detailed instructions. Survey cards can also be obtained by contacting your regional DEC office, by calling (518) 402-8886, or by e-mailing If inquiring via email, DEC asks that you type "Turkey Survey" in the subject line of your email. You can also submit your observations online.
