Today is the first day New York’s sportsmen can purchase their new hunting licenses. Well, that was the plan, until the DEC shut down the new licensing system, due to technical problems.
That’s not the only wrinkle in obtaining a license for 2014-2015. Licenses like the “Sportsman” and “Super Sportsman” are gone under a new licensing structure. Now, like many years ago, sportsmen will purchase a license then add stamps ala-carte.
The DEC did anticipate trouble with the launch of their new system, humbly asking sportsmen to wait one to two weeks after Aug 4 before making their new license purchase, allowing time for “agents to gain more experience with the new system”.
You can see the new pricing and stamp structure on the DEC website.
